This technique is taken straight from a tutorial from Creative Cow but I’m really impressed by the outcome. It got me thinking, I love the idea of creating a fully synthetic environment from photos. I use 360 photography all the time to create realistic reflection maps, but have always shyed away from putting them in video. If I applied this technique to some footage with a bit of tracking data, i might be able to create a creepy Fish eye world effect. A bit like that iconic Dolly zoom scene from Jaws but spinning around!
Finlay got my new showreel up and ruining. its was nice to re-visit some project’s i haven’t seen in i wail but now I’m burning to improve upon them. nothings ever really finished is it!
These are my favorite part of a project. It’s the kind of thing that really makes your jaw drop when you see a good one. The idents on terrestrial TV are shining examples of how interesting they can get, in particular the ones for BBC3 and channel 4. They always seem to stick in my mind when I’m brain storming. I found this great website with all the retro BBCs idents on it:
I love the look of the really old black and white ones. The super simple designs still seem to carry weight, although I may be looking at them with the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia!
